Become a Tour Docent
 
  • Train to guide tourist around your community by
    committing to our 40 hour Tour Docent Training
    program. Learn the history of Idlewild sites, facts
    of community nature, and myths to debunk with
    a scripted and Idlewild Tour Docent guide.
     

  • Take our Docent Enterprise class to personalize your
    Idlewild Tour script to include your own family and personal history of Idlewild. 40 hours of Basic docent training required to attend, you will learn the art of storytelling to incorporate your own personal stories into Idlewild’s diverse history. Docents with advance training are eligible for Community Education presentation stipends throughout the year at different events.   Docent Application

 

Volunteer at Tour Events for HITS
 
  • Choose a time to serve your community at our booth at one the upcoming Idlewild events. Complete the application in the link to provide your availability and contact information, and choose which event(s) you would like to volunteer at.    Volunteer Application 

 

Become a Community Educator
 
  • Get paid to share your knowledge by becoming a Community Educator. Apply to work with HITS to create a class or teach one that you already have to community residents on a variety of topics. What topics? You choose, the community chooses, we provide classes and workshops based on the interest and needs of the community. We are just paying you to teach it from your experience. We don’t know everything, we need you to share that wisdom with the world!  Community Educator Application

 

Idlewild Youth Service Project
 
  • Volunteer at our next youth engagement project as we work to beautify Idlewild one project at a time. We are seeking community residents of all ages as we bring in youth from partnering schools to perform service acts in our wonderful community. We need people to assistance with meal preparation, oral history presenters, group leaders, set up/ break down crew, and trash removal. Please complete the application specifically for the Idlewild Youth Service Project, as there are extra review requirements for volunteers because we will be working with children. Local community children are encouraged to participate as group leaders or peer volunteers along with our partnered school groups.
